We Have Never Been Northerners and We Shall Not Be Sudanese – Abyei People

The world will commit the most heinous sin and the gravest mistake to let Al Bashir take control of the Abyei land and its people because as they themselves say it and all the South Sudanese and even honest Sudanese know it these people have never been Northerners and will not fit to be Sudanese.

They were and still are South Sudanese. Imagine since 1905 when their land together with them was turned over to Kordofan province by a British colonial administrator to ease him the discomfort of walking across swamps in order to reach them with government messages and to collect poll tax unaware that South Sudan and Sudan were two different countries and his action would in the long future bring the problem we are facing today. From 1905 to 2012, that is a total of 107 years the ten Ngok Dinka chiefdoms remain as they were previously with their language, their culture, their occupation of cattle owning and some tilling the soil to grow basic food crops, their huts all were different from the huts of all Sudanese tribes and remain as they were since 1905.
