BACKGROUND
The Food Security Technical Secretariat (FSTS) is a permanent body within Southern Sudan Centre for Census, Statistics and Evaluation (SSCCSE), established with support from the Sudan Institutional Support Programme: Food Security Information for Action (SIFSIA project which is supported by FAO. The FSTS is tasked to provide support to the Food Security Council (FSC) established by the Government of Southern Sudan. It will also render support to relevant GOSS institutions on providing information required for appropriate food security and livelihoods policy and strategy development. The Secretariat has a Coordination Unit and five sections.

The activities of the FSTS includes collection, generation and analysis of food security information and production and dissemination of regular food security bulletins and policy briefs for informing the Government of Southern Sudan (GOSS) on appropriate policies and strategies regarding food security and livelihoods in Southern Sudan.
